Ride to Remember - The Butterfly Project

Written by Cheryl Rather Price, The Butterfly Project

Dear Jewish Motorcyclists Alliance,

What can we say???

You came, you conquered and you left a lasting impact on everyone that you met in San Diego during R2R weekend in support of The Butterfly Project!

Our community will always remember how on September 9th, between the raindrops falling from our normally dry San Diego skies, the Jewish Motorcyclists Alliance (JMA), with many of you riding for weeks across the USA and Canada, gathered together in San Diego for your annual Ride 2 Remember.

We are beyond thrilled that out of hundreds of organizations across the country, you selected The Butterfly Project!

Thank you to those who have already donated to the R2R and for those still adding their donations. We deeply appreciate your support, especially as we face escalating antisemitism and Holocaust distortion and denial. You are making a difference and truly helping us to advance our important work.

You may send donations to JMA or via this link to The Butterfly Project (select R2R drop down menu) Checks payable to The Butterfly Project may be mailed to: 4950 Murphy Canyon Road San Diego CA 92123.

We feel honored to have shared in all the weekend of activities, included an unforgettable day at San Diego Jewish Academy (SDJA), where Holocaust survivors and descendants, students, faculty, community leaders, Jewish clergy, volunteers, and families joined together to witness and engage in an amazing display of solidarity to stand up to antisemitism and increase access to Holocaust education. The roars of the motorcycle engines competed with the roars of the students, standing on the steps of SDJA waving flags to welcome you all. The excitement was unforgettable and palpable!

Please email Beth@thebutterflyprojectnow.org to bring our Holocaust education and memorial making to your synagogues, schools and community centers. We will do the heavy lifting after the connection and now having seen some of our mosaics and knowing we can ship, we might even be able to do a mural design for your town!

Special thanks to Lauren Secular of the JMA Chai Riders for spearheading this event from NYC and Steve Marion Walker of San Diego’s local motorcyclist’s club Shalom & Chrome, who worked with us for the last 3 years on this event. Special thanks to Bob Cohen, Bruce Ente and so many others who worked to make this event a resounding success. You have so much to teach us about philanthropy and Tikkun Olam. You are all mensches, through and through! Thank you to Beth Licha, Program Director for The Butterfly Project for her hard work on every aspect of this weekend. Beth will take care of any and all connections for butterflies in your cities and set you up to succeed in bringing TBP to your community.

We are so very grateful for this epic opportunity for our community to have shared this incredible experience with the Jewish Motorcyclists Alliance! Click HERE to access the Google Drive where you may add your photos! Warmly, Cheryl Rattner Price
