Written by Steve Aroesty, JMA President
To My Fellow Jewish Bikers,
I am most honored and humbled to be stepping into the role of Executive for our organization. Fortunately, I have some very talented folks who will be serving alongside including Danny Herbst as VP who was there at the very founding of the JMA.
If you missed it, we recently had a wonderful Ride to Remember Convention (R2R) in San Diego which showcased what JMA is about: motorcycles, brotherhood and charity. A big shout out to Lauren Secular (R2R Coordinator and incoming JMA Treasurer) and our partners at the Butterfly Project who worked tirelessly to see that the convention was a success and were not fazed when we initially had to cancel several times due to Covid. At this writing, our donation tally is still being calculated, but should represent a nice boost to the Butterfly Project's funding.
We also had a great time (with wonderful weather and riding) in Canandaigua, NY this summer at the Meet and Greet organized by our friends at Thou Shalt Ride (Upstate NY) and Ken Bell. I am happy to report that Ken has agreed to step into the role of JMA R2R Coordinator and G-d willing, we should have updates on R2R 2023 shortly.
Thank you to Jake Simon (Newsletter) and Jay Mandelker (Secretary) who are continuing to serve on our Board along with Member at Large, Ian Abrams.
I also need to thank and recognize those members of our board who are stepping down from leadership roles including outgoing President Bob Cohen, Vice-President and Webmaster David Rosenblatt and Treasurer Bruce Ente. Collectively they have devoted hundreds of hours keeping the JMA running during some very challenging times, and I fear that they have received far more complaints than compliments for their efforts.
My very best wishes to all of you and your families for a very happy, healthy New Year,
Shanah tovah,
Steve Aroesty
