North Georgia Meet & Greet

Submitted by Wayne Markman, President Sabra Riders, Atlanta, GA

The Sabra Riders of Atlanta were pleased to once again welcome around forty JMA members for a meet & greet in Blairsville, Georgia from October 22nd to the 25th at the Copperhead Lodge. I hesitate to call it a “regional” meet & greet because folks who came were from all over the US and even Canada! It was good to see old friends from previous meet & greets and R2Rs, and to meet some new ones!

We enjoyed two great days of riding in north Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina. Friday’s ride took us to Tennessee and North Carolina where we rode the Cherolaha Skyway from Tellico Plains, TN to Robbinsville, NC. After lunch in Robbinsville, some opted to ride the infamous Tail of the Dragon (318 curves in 11 miles), while others took a more scenic route back to the lodge. Friday evening, we welcomed Shabbat with wine and song, good food, and good company.

On Saturday, we rode “The Gauntlet,” a six gap mountain loop that included a lunch stop in the Bavarian style Alpine village of Helen, GA. After lunch, we did a little sightseeing and souvenir shopping before splitting into smaller groups for the ride back. There were eight of us who continued to follow “The Gauntlet.”

Here is a pic of some the beautiful fall foliage we saw along the way, courtesy of Wendy Levinson. This was taken at one of the scenic overlooks along our route.

And this link will take you to a drop box with photos of more people and places from the event, with thanks to Sheldon Smaye.

A big THANK YOU to all who attended the Meet & Greet in Blairsville over the weekend, and apologies to those who took home a little more than they bargained for.
