Labor Day Meet & Greet in the Berkshires - Chai Riders NYC

This Labor Day, Friday, Sept 4 to Monday, Sept 7, the New York Chairiders are pleased to invite all members of our sister JMA clubs to join us for a MEET & GREET, in beautiful, historic Williamstown, Massachusetts in the heart of the Berkshires. We will be staying at the lovely, historic 1896 House. The 1896 house, built-in 1896 as a milking barn, complete with the bullpen, was turned into a famous restaurant in 1939 and enjoyed an unparalleled reputation for excellence for approximately 40 years. The draw was so great that a lodging facility was built in 1951 to accommodate the patrons. Soon additional guest rooms were added. Sometime in the 1970’s, the lodging portion and restaurant were sold separately and began operating separately. The Details: FOOD: What kind of Jewish gathering would this be without something to eat? The 1896 house has an excellent restaurant on premises which will offer INDOOR AND OUTDOOR dining.  A five-minute ride away, Williamstown is a college town with places to eat in every cuisine and price range you can imagine.

What we offer is a chance to hang with your fellow JMA clubs, some of the best, most scenic riding in the Northeast, and some very interesting attractions in this historic region.

Here are just a few.

MOUNT GREYLOCK STATE RESERVATION The highest peak in Massachusetts. A ride up Mt Greylock is technical and beautiful. The view from the top is amazing. Harry Potter’s author J.K. Rowling chose this peak as the site of an ultra-secretive school of magic, “hidden by forest, cloud, and spell.” BENNINGTON MUSEUM One of the finest regional history and art museums in New England. It houses the largest collection of Grandma Moses paintings and memorabilia. MOHAWK TRAIL This ride is highly recommended and will most likely be combined with a ride to Mt. Greylock. A 63 mile scenic byway from Williamstown to Deerfield meanders through deep forest, historic towns and the famous “Hairpin Turn”. THE CLARK ART INSTITUTE This newly-reopened art museum and center for research and higher education is best known for an extraordinary collection of French Impressionist paintings (including more than 30 Renoirs) and 2 minutes from the inn.
